About

Company Story

Travita Homes was founded by Lynnee Schmidt. Lynnee and her family have been active in Northeastern Wisconsin communities for three decades. She found herself in the area on a swimming scholarship to UW Green Bay, but never left, because she had fallen in love with the variety available in this beautiful and thriving part of the state.

In 2019 Lynnee realized that as a recent empty-nester, the time was right to finally go after the dream of helping people create the right space for life to happen. She moved forward with passion and energy, ready to start the next chapter in her life by taking on new challenges.

A mentor noticed her particular talents and excellent communication skills; he encouraged her to take her career further and obtain licensing as a Luxury Real Estate Agent. This complimented her passion for creative interior design perfectly, but through this valuable process, she discovered that her true calling was interior design.

Lynnee feels honored being part of people’s journey as they move forward in life whether by “Designing Space for Life to Happen” in their own space, or by making a new space their own. She intuitively supports their transition with grace, respect, and professionalism.

A Note from Lynnée

I am Lynnée Schmidt with Travita Homes and I believe that my job as an interior decorator is about “finding you in your home.” Instead of imposing just the latest trends or my own interior designs on my clients, I make interior decorating a journey about you and yours – what you value and the next steps you’re taking in life.

This process (“journey”) is so personal; it’s about designing the right space for life to happen: holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, joys, sorrows, watching your favorite TV shows with your family, coming home to your sanctuary after a rough day…. It is an honor for me to walk this journey with you.

My expertise and passion inspire excitement throughout the process, making it both fun and rewarding!

 “I’m not a business person, I’m a people-person.”

Travita Homes History

Interior Decorating: Seeds are Planted

Until Lynnée was about thirteen years old, her father was the one in charge of all the household maintenance. Around that age, her dad came to both Lynnée and her brother, telling them that they could pick our own carpet colors. While her brother immediately said he wanted blue, Lynnée said, “hardwood floors.” They were also allowed to paint their rooms themselves and Lynnée chose yellow, blue, and then lavender over the years.

This was her first taste of what it might be like to be an interior decorator.

She discovered that if she couldn’t have something new, she could always make it appear new by rearranging, adding a little paint, or choosing a different color of upholstery or other accent fabric. Over time she developed a vision to create a business where the relationship side would always be foremost. It was some years before things finally came into focus for her entrepreneurial inclination.

“Remixing” what you already have preserves what you love while keeping it authentic, unique… you.

Travita Homes, Interior Decorating: Time to Bloom

Lynnée and her family have been active in Northeastern Wisconsin communities for three decades. She found herself in the area on a swimming scholarship to UW Green Bay, but never left, because she had fallen in love with the variety available in this beautiful and thriving part of the state.

In 2019, Lynnée realized that as a recent empty-nester, the time was right to finally go after her dreams of working with people closely, helping them feel that their space reflects who they are. She moved forward with passion and energy, ready to start the next chapter in her life by taking on new challenges.

A mentor noticed her particular talents and excellent communication skills; he encouraged her to take her career further and obtain licensing as a Luxury Real Estate Agent. This complimented her passion for creative interior design perfectly, and initially, she thought to supplement her real estate business with home staging  but through this valuable process, she discovered that her true calling was affordable interior design and decided to make that her priority.

Lynnée feels honored being part of people’s journey as they move forward in life whether by “Designing Space for Life to Happen” in their own space, or by making a new space their own. She intuitively supports their transition with grace, respect, and professionalism.

Her reputation is important to her and begins with an interior design consultation. She wants to be fun to work while helping people feel  comfortable. Lynnée strives to make the task seem easy and efficient, while never wasting Clients’ time or money.

Professional

Interior
Decorator

Officially, Lynnée Schmidt is an interior decorator, though the skills of an interior designer and interior decorator can overlap quite a bit. Also, many clients don’t know the difference and in searching for someone to help them with their interior designs, may use the terms interchangeably.

An interior designer is usually hired by an architect when a property is being built, whereas an interior decorator is more often hired by the home owner, though also can be hired by an architect or real estate professional.

What a licensed interior designer offers that an interior decorator does not includes:
  • Formal building ordinance, fire safety, and ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) regulations education
  • Collaboration with contractors/architects on layouts for walls and floor plans
  • Formal education regarding acoustics

Additionally, some states require licensing, certification, or registration to perform specific interior designer functions. Other states require proof of education and may also require one to pass an examination.
